VEKA is the UK’s leading PVCU supplier. The most knowledgeable brand in the industry, they use their expertise to design, develop high quality, innovative PVCU systems for windows, doors and bi-fold doors. Fluid was asked to create a memorable theme for VEKA’s AGM conference, which was to be held over a weekend at a large, art deco hotel in Leeds.
We know that without an engaging theme, delegates can find AGMs dull and uninviting. It’s also difficult to create excitement for the evening element if the design style is too stiff and corporate. So we decided to give this event two distinct looks – one for the AGM meeting and one for the Gala Dinner with guest speaker Warwick Davis.
We used VEKA’s brand style and diamond graphic to produce a slick range of communication materials for the meeting. These included invitations, wayfinding signage, comprehensive delegate packs, a map of the hotel, the stage design and hundreds of presentation slides. Then, when everyone had left to get ready for the evening, we removed the top layer of signage and posters and completely re-dressed the room to reveal a Great Gatsby theme. The art deco styling and typography fitted the venue perfectly and created a lavish look for the awards dinner. We also had fancy dress available, such as spats and flapper girl headdresses that delegates could purchase for £2 to customise their outfits and really get into the spirit.
An AGM is a legal requirement, but by creating such a memorable event, VEKA was able to foster goodwill about how they were doing financially. And the fancy dress raised thousands of pounds for charity.
