Independent Network VEKA AGM Conference

VEKA is the UK’s leading PVCU supplier. The most knowledgeable brand in the industry, they use their expertise to design, develop high quality, innovative PVCU systems for windows, doors and bi-fold doors. VEKA tasked Fluid with supporting them on their annual AGM conference, which was to be held over a weekend at a large, art deco hotel in Leeds, making the event special, memorable and exciting.

We know that without an engaging theme, delegates can find AGMs dull and uninviting. It’s also difficult to create excitement for the evening element if the design style is too stiff and corporate, despite the legal obligation of the event. So we decided to split the event into two distinct looks – one for the AGM meeting and one for the Gala Dinner, an opportunity for VEKA colleagues to celebrate the year and relax with an awards dinner and casino.

We used VEKA’s brand style and diamond graphic to produce a slick range of communication materials, which included invitations, wayfinding signage, comprehensive delegate packs, a map of the hotel, the stage design and hundreds of presentation slides. Then, when everyone had left to get ready for the evening, we removed the top layer of signage and posters and completely re-dressed the room to reveal a Great Gatsby theme. The art deco styling and typography fitted the venue perfectly and created a lavish look for the awards dinner. We also had fancy dress available, such as spats and flapper girl headdresses that delegates could purchase for £2 to customise their outfits and really get into the spirit.

An AGM may be a legal requirement, but by creating such a memorable event, VEKA was able to foster goodwill amongst their stakeholders about how they were doing financially, as well as trust and appreciation for them as a company. Additionally, the fancy dress raised thousands of pounds for charity.
